Alvear Palace Hotel situation in the trendy neighbourhood of La Recoleta is the perfect starting spot for indulging in the vibrant restaurant and cultural scene which Buenos Aires offers. Imagine exploring your favourite European city, the grand architecture and décor feels familiar yet with an exotic twist. It is not surprising the hotel was actually built by Buenos Aires socialite Dr.Rafael de Miero, who had visited Paris in the 1920s and wanted to bring some Parisian magnificence to his homeland.

With guest such as Sean Connery and Sofia Loren having graced this hotel you might be mistaken you are on a movie set with a marble lobby and old-fashioned grandiose elegance surrounding.

Only a four-minute walk down Avenue Alvear is the decadent restaurant Hub, Porteño. Unlike the French restaurant scene the classic michelin-star system does not stretch to Argentina, but on dining here you would think you are dining in a stared establishment. The head chef Dante Liporace (formally at the impressive ‘el Bulli’), serves up exciting takes on traditional Argentinian cuisine. The wall-to-wall white marble, with a vicariously place fig tree growing through its middle is a sight to behold. One could assume that food to compliment such décor would be difficult to achieve, however Liporace does it effortlessly. Its best to try the seven-course tasting menu to sample the restaurants highlights, expect such tastes as deconstructed pizza and a molecular take on Argentina’s beloved flan.

After a dinner and a stroll down the beautiful streets you may find yourself outside a charming florist, the store is actually a front and secretly hidden within is an ultra-stylish bar, Floreria Atlantico. Floreria Atlantico is for those who love wine, cocktails, flowers and music, and not necessarily in that order. Their current speciality is a boozy version of the yerba mate (Argentina’s signature herbal tea). Now the stage is set for an unforgettable night, enjoy!
