In July 2019, a group of 35 Australian doctors and their partners set off for an accredited medical conference in Mongolia. The delegation heard lectures from Dr Simon Willcock on men’s health and musculoskeletal medicine. Dr Julia Jones spoke about Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease. Lectures were also delivered from A/Prof Catherine O’Connor on travel & sexual health. The Australian Ambassador to Mongolia also met with our delegates to speak about everything from the health care system to the social issues being faced in Mongolia.

Our social program was packed with unique travel opportunities. The tour started in the Gobi Desert where we spent time with local nomadic communities and also went hunting for dinosaur fossils. Our conference coincided with the Nadaam Festival, which was an honour to attend. After our conference, most of the group continued with the travels into China, where we travelled along the ancient Silk Road.
