Once again the morning is free for you to do as you please. Wednesdays is Malatapay Market day. This is a local meeting place for traders, merchandisers, shoppers and visitors. On display is food, vegetables and fruit, tools and house hold items as well as clothes and bags. But most interesting must be the livestock market: Cows, goats and pigs in abundance meet their fate here in the early morning. Come early to see the hustle and bustle, and spend some time relaxing at the Malatapay pier with some sweet banana fritters and local coffee. Or why not sample some Lechon Baboy (roast pork) and a cold San Miguel beer?

Afternoon conference session.

Day 6

B,L,D

Free morning. Last chance for some diving!

Afternoon conference session.

Day 7

B,L,D

Today we all head off to Oslob to see majestic whale sharks. They are the largest fish in the sea, reaching lengths of 12 metres or more. They scoop tiny plants and animals up, along with any small fish that happen to be around, with their colossal gaping mouths while swimming close to the water’s surface. You can swim or snorkel with them or just watch from a boat. Fortunately for most sea-dwellers—and us!—their favourite meal is plankton.

After this, you can enjoy a swim in the refreshing pool beneath a waterfall set in a rainforest before heading to the town of Dumaguete for lunch.

After lunch, take a short tour of the city including the Belfry Tower, which once warned of pirate raids; the 18th century stone cathedral and enjoy some people watching in Quezon Park.

Afternoon hospital visit.

Tonight enjoy a last night with your new-found friends at our farewell dinner.

Day 8
